PULL! Barbour Clayshooting

August 2, 2011 by lucydust

The annual Barbour clay shooting day took place last week. Friends of Barbour head to Buckinghamshire for a day of shot guns, Barbour caps and sunnies (yes the sun had arrived). The early start meant a few sleepy guests, but after a warm welcome from the Barbour team and a hearty breakfast of bacon, croissants and much needed coffee… We were set to go.

It was great to have Helen Barbour join us for the day and talk guests through the new AW11 collections as well as the launch of her new shooting range. Helen was joined by shooting sensation Claire Zambuni.

After splitting into teams we were soon into our first round of clay pigeon shooting. Groups of 5 were given their own incredibly patient instructor who taught us the basic safety tips and shooting techniques. The most boisterous guests took their turn first, while others more hesitantly followed suit. Although some used the initial rounds to warm up, most warmed to the game pretty quickly and before long points were being clocked up everywhere… except the Dusties who clearly need to stick to PR than a career in shooting. The days activities were more tiring than expected, probably due to the adrenalin rush from the quick flurry round that required real concentration and strong arms.

An incredible champagne lunch followed by the announcement of the prize giving soon had everyone’s attention. There were surprising winners and losers. For some this was a first time shooting success, while others won prizes for missing nearly every target or forgetting that one important word while firing…pull!

A great day was had by all; perfectly organised, great food and lovely people… Thank you Barbour and E.J Churchill Shooting School
