Born in San Diego, California, Rebecca’s first love was the art of design and she began sewing at the early age of 8.  She began designing clothing at the age of 18 and even then her clothing already had the details that one would expect in a well-made garment and were cut to move over the body with ease. She took these ideas to her handbag collection, wanting to design bags for everyday women that were versatile in color and comfortable in style.

Rebecca Minkoff LLC was founded in 2005 with a contemporary luxury line of handbags. The collection enjoyed instant sales success and critical acclaim. Small leather goods were introduced in 2008 to complement the collection, followed by a line of baby bags in 2009. Rebecca has since expanded the line to include a full range of ready-to-wear apparel and is also launching her shoe collection for SS/11 – all maintaining her aesthetic of classic design with a contemporary twist.

Stockists of the collections include Bloomingdales and Henri Bendel in the USA, Harvey Nichols in the UK and she is also carried in over 200 boutiques across the world, including Japan, France, Russia and Canada.
